Abby was malnourished, unwell, and eating rubbish in order to live when she was rescued from the street by animal control in the month of September. Animal control took one look at the practically bald senior dog, estimated to be between 10 and 12 years old, and immediately realized that they were unable to provide her with the kind of assistance she required due to their limited resources. They got in touch with the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana, whose rescuers were able to see that the dog had the potential to blossom into a lovely creature if he was given love and care.
The people who rescued Abby were astounded at the state in which she was found. It was hard to think that she had managed to live on her own in such a dangerous environment for so long. The elderly dog required veterinary care for a variety of conditions, including ear and skin infections, a fractured rear limb, and various other injuries and illnesses. Because it was obvious that the majority of the issues she had been suffering with had been left untreated for a considerable amount of time, Abby’s new friends did not waste any time in getting her started on the path to recovery.
“We had to give her daily shampoos and meds to clear her skin infections and treat her ear infections,” Sarrah Walton, who works at the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana, told The Dodo. “We had to give her daily shampoos and meds to clear her skin infections and treat her ear infections.” During that time period, she was showered with a great deal of affection and care.
Abby went through a series of treatments, and she even had to undergo surgery, but in the end, it was all worth it. She is in a totally different state compared to when she initially came, and as a result, she is feeling an incredible amount of improvement.
When Abby was initially discovered, she didn’t even look like a dog, but today she’s a fluffy, energetic puppy who is having the time of her life and is completely content. Her saviors are astonished by how far she has come and are ecstatic for her. They could not be happier for her.
Walton said, “She is doing AMAZING,” in reference to her performance. “Abby is a feisty and lively little lady. She is the alpha female of our little dogs and craves human affection and cuddles more than anything in the world.
Abby still has one treatment left to complete, but once that is done, she will be in a position to find the family that will be hers for life. She has come such a long way, and all of her new pals are counting down the seconds until she finds her happily ever after.
