After his first wife divorced him for his celebrity lifestyle, Richard Gere married a longtime friend who gave him two more children at the age of 70… Learn more below…

Richard Gere had a difficult time finding a life mate that was fit for his lifestyle. He went through a drawn-out divorce that lasted for four years, but he had no idea that the next chapter of his life was standing right in front of him.

Richard Gere, a loving family man who is also 73 years old today, celebrated his birthday today. At this point in time, his whole life is completely centered on his family. But it was a long and difficult road for him to get to the point where he could settle down as a family man with a loving wife.

In the same year Richard Gere finalized his marriage to the supermodel Cindy Crawford in 1995, he began dating Carey Lowell.

Before they did anything serious with their relationship, the couple dated for seven years. Lowell was already a Buddhist at the time, and Gere was just beginning his path toward becoming one.

Because of his strong religious convictions, the actor purposefully delayed getting married for a long period of time; he explained, “I’m crawling on my belly like everyone else. In my opinion, living is all about reflecting on oneself. Unquestionably, the journey that one embarks upon.”

Their wedding was not a lavish affair, and for a while, it was a closely guarded secret. Gere claimed that he was unable to make arrangements for their families to come, so Lowell and Gere agreed to hold a brief ceremony with their children acting as witnesses.

Lowell is a mother to two children: Hannah Dunne, whom she has with her ex-partner Griffin Dunne, and Homer, whom she shares with her current partner, Gere.

In addition, both Lowell and Gere had prior experience in marriage, which meant that they were aware of the work required to maintain a long-term commitment.

Gere said that he already felt married to Lowell, therefore proceeding to the next step seemed natural for the pair even though they did not hurry to go down the aisle. The couple did not rush to walk down the aisle. He continued by saying, “I don’t see any issues with this one at all.”

Gere and Lowell came to the conclusion that they no longer wanted to be together after 11 years of marriage. According to the rumors, the breakup occurred because of the two people’s drastically different ways of living.

Gere was a Buddhist and desired to live a peaceful life in seclusion, whereas Lowell desired to engage in social activity and be the center of attention.

In spite of the fact that they had irreconcilable issues that led to their split, their divorce was a drawn-out and contentious affair in the end.

The divorce was complicated by a dispute over child custody, and the couple was unable to come to terms with how Gere’s income should be divided.

The actress claimed that since she had maintained their son Homer and given up her career for her husband, she was entitled to fifty percent of their combined wealth and demanded one hundred million dollars worth of her husband’s two hundred million dollar inheritance.

After much back and forth in court, the separating couple was ultimately able to come to an agreement about the child custody aspect of the divorce.

The divorce between Lowell and Gere was finally granted after a lengthy and contentious legal battle that lasted over four years. The terms of the settlement were not made public, but they were given the opportunity to live their lives as they saw fit.

Gere was able to find love again after going through a protracted and difficult divorce. It turned out that the woman he would spend the rest of his life with had been there in front of him the entire time.

In Italy, where she was working as the manager of a hotel in Positano, the “Pretty Woman” actor first met his future wife, Alejandra Silva, who is from Spain.

Ignacio Silva, a successful businessman and a former Vice President of the Real Madrid football club, is Silva’s father. Silva is Ignacio Silva’s daughter.

The Spanish philanthropist has also worked for a number of other charitable organizations, one of which being the Beautiful Life Fund of the Real Madrid football club.

Gere was a personal friend of the Silva family, and at the time when Silva was a teenager, he borrowed a boat from the Silva family so that he could film a television ad.

Despite this, Silva and Gere resumed dating the next year (2014) when they were reunited and found that they had an immediate connection.

Although Silva did not provide a great deal of information on the proposal, she did say that it took place at one of the most romantic hotels in the South of France.

In 2018, the pair tied the knot in a gorgeous ceremony that was heavily influenced by Indian culture. They surprised their guests by arriving in a tuk-tuk and making a spectacular entrance, but Silva said that the ceremony was fantastic, and she could not stop smiling the whole time.

When questioned about the age difference of 20 years between them, Silva said that the only thing that matters is that they love each other, and Gere assured her that they had 20 more years of a happy marriage ahead of them.

The Spanish wife has been all smiles thus far, and she has said that her husband is so busy that she is unable to keep up with him; nevertheless, the most important thing is that he is committed to making her happy.

After the pair made their relationship public, Silva changed his religion to Buddhism. They made New York their permanent home and eventually became stepparents to their children.

Both Silva and Gere had been through lengthy divorces before coming together, but it did not matter to them one bit since they knew from the moment they met that they were destined to be together. Despite their age difference, it was obvious that they were meant to be together.

Fans were taken aback when the couple made the shocking announcement that they had become parents for the first time in February 2019.

The couple became parents for the second time in April of the year 2020. Gere became a father for the second time at the age of 70, and the family now resides on the ranch in the state of New York.

The newly extended family is maintaining their privacy, but they did affirm that all of the children were in good health and that the family was experiencing its highest levels of happiness.
