Upon experiencing a tragic event, a mother and son were able to win the “Golden Buzzer” for their performance of the song “You Are The Reason”.

The vocal duo of mother and son touched the hearts of all who watched Ireland’s Got Talent. Sharon and her son Brandon went onstage to audition for the show, choosing Сalum Scott’s song «You Are the Reason».
When the two entered the stage, Judge Denise van Outen asked if the song they had chosen had any particular significance for them. Nineteen-year-old Brandon looked at her mother and immediately began to hold back tears, so Sharon gave everyone an emotional explanation.
Sharon sat by Brandon’s bedside, holding his hand, talking and singing to him. She begged him, «Come on, Bud, come back to me. And he woke up. It just wasn’t his time yet. The doctors didn’t know the damage to Brandon’s brain from the oxygen deprivation throughout the experiment.»
Everyone was curious to know how Brandon was feeling after the incident. At the beginning of the song’s intro, mother and son exchange a special look, and Brandon begins the song. The audience immediately falls in love with Brandon’s clear and pleasant voice.
It is so touching to see the bond between mother and son as they sing this song that means so much to them. They blend together beautifully and touch hearts everywhere. Even the judges couldn’t help the tears coming to their eyes. Tears streamed down Brandon’s face as they finished their duet, and the audience and the four judges gave them a standing ovation.
To the applause of the audience, presenter Lucy Kennedy walked off stage and down the steps to the judges’ table. Sharon and Brandon looked a little confused and didn’t understand what was going on. Lucy walked up to the judges and said: «They’re mine!» and then pressed the golden buzzer button.
The show’s host, Lucy, said: «Thank you both for being my Golden Buzzers. You’re just wonderful and I’m proud to have you both. An emotional Denise Van Outen added: «I just think you both look amazing together. You can see the love shining through. You both have incredible voices individually, but together you’re just phenomenal. You are the ones to watch this competition.
This touching performance sent Sharon and Brandon straight to the live shows. Even though they didn’t qualify, Sharon said it best in the opening interview, «We’re winners today, just for being here».
