The story was told by a woman who worked in a cosmetics shop. One day she noticed a boy who looked about 12 years old coming in every day, sitting near the shop and asking passers-by for money.
One such day it rained, the boy got soaked and was clearly beginning to freeze. So the woman called him inside. He was given hot tea, fed and his clothes dried.
The boy said that he lives with his parents, who like to drink, and that he has a younger sister. Every day he had to ask for money so that he and his sister would have something to eat.
He thanked everyone and went home, but came back the next day. He brought two apples and a bun. He said it was the only way he could thank them. The woman almost cried . She had a lump in her throat. She was at once reminded of the words, ” Those who have less, give more.” And so it was.
