It’s been almost five years since Roseanne Barr went on a racist tirade on Twitter after consuming “too many drugs.” After claiming that an aide to then-President Barack Obama looked like a “Muslim brotherhood and planet of the apes had a baby,” she was booted from her show’s remake and had to suffer the consequences of getting canceled by the entire country –
but now Rosanne Barr is back with a Fox Nation comedy special that will get her back on the silver screen for conservative fans to celebrate her crass mode of comedy.
Barr, 69, will return to television half a decade after losing her ABC show for a one-hour comedy special broadcasted boldly by Fox Nation. The date of her special is set for 2023, which is coming up quite soon for those of you counting the days to the new year.
According to Barr, she will produce and star in her new A Roseanne Comedy Special, where “no subjects (will be) off limits” for the Fox Nation star to deal with when it comes to the American public. Barr is known for her controversial views that border on being racist and also for her appeal to the average American conservative.
“Roseanne is a comedy icon whose humor connects with the American audience like no other,” Jason Klarman, president of Fox Nation, said. “Her ability to channel the challenges of everyday people and find the humor in all has earned her the passionate following of millions of dedicated fans.”
Barr is not the only controversial celebrity appearing on the Fox Nation platform in the coming months. In addition to the 69-year-old comedian, Sharon Osbourne will also host a four-part series, which first appears on the conservative platform on September 26, 2022. Clearly, Fox Nation is trying to get people to tune into their struggling channel by getting people mired in controversy to come out of hiding and show their faces to a national audience.
Back when Barr was kicked off her ABC show for the racist tweet, she claimed that she did not even know that Obama’s aide was a Black man. She also claimed that she should not be held responsible for what she said because she wrote her controversial tweet in the middle of a drug-induced mental health episode. She was abusing the sleeping pill Ambien and was trying to stay awake on the drug to earn fans on Twitter when she shared the damning words.
“When it happened, it was like I thought I was gonna lose my life,” she recalled. “It was devastating and horrible and is unprecedented too that they would do that to me.”
Barr also supported then Presidential candidate Donald Trump, which she feels caused ABC not to like her.
“All of Hollywood, they just hate him, and they hate those of us who like him. There is no way around it. So, yeah, I think they took me off because I liked him, and I like him because I’m a Jew, and he likes Israel,” Barr said.
