The hospice patient who had served in Vietnam shared his last wish with his family just before passing away to see and cuddle with his cherished puppy one more time…

John Vincent, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps who served during the Vietnam War, is now 96 years old.
The veteran chose not to establish a family and ended up living by themselves as a result. Patch, his cherished dog, was the only thing he had left in the world. Even while he was riding a Harley, he didn’t spend much time away from him.

A dog was able to say goodbye to its owner, a Vietnam veteran who was receiving hospice care, according to CNN.

Even the dog had on a pair of small sunglasses for outings like this one.

As the old patient was sent to the hospice, there was nobody available to take care of the dog in the meantime. A period of time was spent with Patch spending time at an animal refuge.

It didn’t take long for the staff at the shelter to figure out that John didn’t have much time left.

One additional question was posed by the old gentleman. When he saw Patch again, he had the impulse to offer him one more hug.

“As soon as we heard about this, we agreed with what was being said. We came to the conclusion that we needed to give this meeting our utmost attention in order to make it a success. According to the head of animal welfare, Patch was sent to him in a short amount of time.

When the gathering learned that Patch had his last meeting with John when he was just five years old, several people in the crowd shed tears.

John said, “Well, it’s me, it’s dad,” as Patch kissed his face, and Patch did so while John was speaking. Do you like my presence? I’ve been looking forward to our meeting.

Images from John and Patch’s last interaction have been posted by the Animal Welfare Service on their Facebook page. The message included a reference to their tearful departure.

That was such a heartwarming event to see! They were happy to see one other again so that they could say their goodbyes. Danny stated that fulfilling the veteran’s last wish had filled him with a sense of enormous pride.

After that, Patch headed back to his home. Yet, he won’t be thrown away since a new owner has already been found for him.
