It was opened almost 300 years ago, in 1722. During this time this incredible place accumulated more than 20,000 rare books. The library is famous as one of the most beautiful libraries in the world, and it is located in Prague. The frescoes on the ceilings were painted in 1781 by Ian Heeble, and they gradually divert your attention from the intricate pattern of the floor. These rare books are gradually scanned by Google and will be available in Google Books indefinitely, not afraid to spoil. The Clementinum Library was opened as part of the Jesuit University, which was the third largest and most beautiful university in the world.
The university began recording daily weather in 1775 and has since registered every day.
The library is a magnificent example of the Baroque architectural style.
In fact, it is the second largest complex in Prague after Prague Castle.
Until 2006, there was much discussion of expanding the building to accommodate the ever-growing collection of books.
The expansion order was rejected, so the Czech National Library will remain the same.
To this day, the library is an honored centre of education and culture in Prague.
In addition to privately owned books, the library contains all books, manuscripts, and publications published in the Czech Republic since 1807.
The oldest documents in the library are Greek papyri dating from the 1st century. Clementinum Library is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world.
